Why do so many of us avoid feeling? Somewhere along the line, we learned that discomfort was “bad.” Emotions are “too much.” Crying is “weakness.” We all avoid feeling in certain ways and it takes strength to look at ourselves compassionately. Sometimes, we get so good at avoidance, we don’t even realize we are doing it!

It is possible to feel your pain, process it, get support around it, and move on from it. We are all going through something, and I believe we can heal to the point we are inspired by the little things again (which really are the big things). With the right emotional support, we can honor and make friends with our suffering, accept it, and find joy in choosing how we move through it. No one does it alone.

Meet Taryn Cagnina, LMHC in MA & LPCC in CA

Taryn L Cagnina, MA, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts and maintains a private practice in downtown Boston. Taryn has been working in mental health for the past ten years, focusing most of her work on eating disorders, substance abuse, and trauma. Taryn holds a Master’s degree from Lesley University in Expressive Therapies and Mental Health Counseling, and is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
